Our Morning Walk...

As you know, we've moved East.
Never did I picture myself living on the East Coast, and definitely not on Long Island!
We live in a quaint, historic  community about an hour outside New York City.
Best of Both Worlds!

We've loved discovering our area - new grocery stores, bagel shops, beaches, marinas, ice cream shops, parks, pools, local farms, zoos, and our daily walking routes.

I thought it would be hard to replace my three-mile-loop around the Rose Bowl that I did almost daily (often twice) in Pasadena.  Then...we discovered Trustees.  A perfect little two-mile road - no cars allowed - where my kids can bike, scooter, and run their buns off.  We've had fun running and riding to the end, playing on the beach finding crabs or scaring guppies, and then running and riding back.

The view is absolutely amazing.  A gorgeous marshy inlet on the inside, and the Long Island Sound on the outside.  When we reach the end, my kids rush out to the inlet, collect some rocks (my stroller is filled with them), search for crabs, skip some rocks, and just explore.

Finn showing me a baby hermit crab she found crawling in the shallow water.

Sometimes, we wear our suits and spend a few hours lounging on the beach after.  One day we found this guy stranded on a sandbar just waiting to be snatched up by a seagull for lunch.  Luckily, we scooped him up and set him free.  He can now live to die another day.

So, that's a little introduction to our life here on Long Island.
More to come soon.
Oh, and we are now booking guests for the 2012-2013 season!
