Picking the Perfect Pumpkin...

Picking the perfect pumpkin….say that three times fast! Whew!  We had the best time driving out to Eastern Long Island to pick out our pumpkins.  The kids took their time selecting their favorite one and loading it up in the wagon.  Mitch guessed within 5 pounds of our total pumpkin-weight so we got $5 off our total.  Bonus!

Afterward, we let the kids get all their energy out in the bounce house, climbing on the wooden John Deer tractor and just running around.  It didn't hurt that they were cooking up some fresh cider donuts.  Who knew I loved cider donuts?  I sure didn't, but I'm sure I'll never be able to make it through another fall without at least one batch.

Besides the wind, it was the perfect pumpkin patchin' day.  I feel so lucky to have these people belong to me.  Happy Fall!

North Fork Berry Picking...

We've lived here a year, and had yet to discover the North Fork of Long Island.  So, one day this summer we decided we were going to check it out.  We met up with a few of our friends and headed East to discover the beautiful farms and vineyards.  We stopped at Patty's Berries & Bunches, picked up our baskets, and headed into the fields.  The blueberries and blackberries were the biggest I'd ever seen.  They tasted like candy eating them right of the bush.  My kids loved picking their own berries and even Remi enjoyed eating the berries right off the bush.

We came home with three overflowing pints of blueberries and blackberries that we quickly turned into muffins, smoothies, and breakfast toppings.  We loved our first trip to the North Fork and look forward to seeing more of what it has to offer soon.
