For my dad's birthday we wanted to do something special for him and let him know how much we appreciate him. We decided we'd "kid"nap him, take him out to dinner, and a fun activity.
My mom made sure he would be home by telling him she was making him a home cooked meal. About 5:30pm he started checking the ovens, looking at the stove top and noticing that nothing was cooking. It was hilarious. At one point he even asked my mom, "Janice, aren't we having a home cooked meal tonight?" My mom avoided the question like a champ. Then, my siblings started arriving, randomly, and with out kids. It was all starting to click.
Finally, my sister Amy whipped out the birthday crown she made him, and we let him in on our plans. Dinner at Porcupine Grill, one of his fav's, and another surprise after that.

After a fun dinner, we headed out to the West Side. We were joking with my dad trying to throw him off. When we finally pulled into the parking lot of FASTCART go-cart racing, he just started laughing. It was the best reaction.
We had such a blast. I probably laughed a good 75% of the time I was driving. Especially when I would pass someone, or accidentally bump someone. Hilarious. It was a great night, and it reminded me once again how fortunate I am to be a part of such a wonderful family. Love you guys, and Happy Birthday Dad!
