Fourth of July...

We had a fun Fourth of July this year. With Dieter only being 5 days old, we kept things pretty low-key, but it was still great. We started off the day with our ward pancake breakfast and parade. I didn't realize it at the time, but that would be our last CDM activity as official ward members! So, so sad. We have absolutely LOVED being in that ward, and hope we see all of you OFTEN!

Finnley loved riding her new bike. She was very protective of it. While in line for pancakes, a little boy came and casually hopped on her bike. When she saw her bike and balloons bobbing away, she was off my hip in a jiffy and running down the parking lot to tell him to get off. Yikes! We need to work on the sharing!

After the parade, we headed down to Balboa Island to enjoy some ice cream, walk along the water, and soak up the sun. We were hoping to see the boat parade, but sleepless nights called for naps, so we headed home.

Mitch had taken Finnley for a little daddy-daughter day on the 3rd. They came back with all sorts of goodies - a new Mickey towel, beach pads, treats, and a blow-up pool. After naps, we headed up to the sun-deck to try it out. The water was cold, and the breeze made it even colder. Finnley was blue in the lips and shaking but she didn't want to get out!

After a steak and potato meal courtesy of Grandma Jan, we waited for it to get dark and then headed up the road and laid out our chairs to watch the fireworks. We could see five or six different shows all the way up to Huntington beach. It was awesome and Finnley loved it. She loved telling us what colors they were, and even spotted a few happy face fireworks! Overall, it was a great day! Hope you had a happy fourth as well!
