"There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man." ~Winston Churchill
Our old family horse, Ty, has been struggling for the last three years with emphasema, and it has finally taken its toll on his life at the age of 26. Ty was an amazing horse. He was big and tall, and always a little intimidating to ride. He would run like a racehorse and was the leader of the pack. He has since retired from the long mountain rides, and fast paced gallops that used to thrill us, but has continued to be a wonderful, sweet horse. For 14 years my dad rode Ty, his very favorite of all his horses, and diligently spoiled him with "sweet-lumps" and other goodies. As a result, Ty would nuzzle his nose right at my dad's pockets each time he came to see him, and would sweetly lean his head on his shoulders for a good rub down. Its easy to love animals, but so hard to have to say goodbye to them…especially when they have been as good as old Ty. We’ll miss you!

oh sad!! What a pretty horse!!
Oh that makes me SO sad! I am actually not a huge animal person, but I happen to love horses. I too grew up with horses and since, all 3 of them have passed. Even though they are not a house pet so you may not feel as close to them it is so sad to see them go. There is something so majestic and beautiful about horses. They are amazing animals.
